This week has been a total win for me! I have adjusted to my new plan and let me tell you that I just feel so alive. Waking up at 5:30AM and going bed at 9:30PM works best for me. Those extra 30 minutes in the morning allow me time to get my 5k training session done. It’s crazy! Sticking to the schedule is becoming more natural each day. I’ve declined free foods offered by people that were not apart of my plan. I honestly did not know it would go so well the first week. But who ever won a battle by thinking they already lost?
Today after I got off work and began the long drive home, I kept contemplating whether I wanted to go straight to the gym or go home first to take care of other things. I chose to workout. When I arrived in the parking, I pondered some more. Do I want to wait until its less crowded? Do I have to do this today? Can I find a friend who wants to come with me? I was perplexed because my “camera shyness” was seeping in but I really wanted to workout. I chose to workout. Now after my workout, I feel fabulous and I’m excited about the future I’m choosing. I realize that I don’t have to be scared of the me now. It’s important that I look in the mirror and appreciate the me now because I wont always look this way. That truth simply makes this journey more valuable. In fact my visual motivators are two pictures of myself. One is from early college years when I was at the most fit physique in my young adult life and the other is from last month. So I just tell myself, it’s the same story just a different day.
Hmm, what else made this week a win. It’s gonna rain tonight which means Ber doesn’t have to water the garden. #FreeWater
Knock knock! Whose there? Your fitness goals and It’s time to have a specific goal oriented fitness regimen. This way I’m not just working out sporadically or not at all. Currently, my goal is prepare for the Color Run 5K I researched some information to tailor a plan specifically for me.
One of my friends recommended that I train for my body type. Muscle & Strength website identifies three body types that make a huge difference in how one should train. Mine is predominately the endomorph. Basically this means that I gain muscle and fat very easily. The detailed description of the endomorph fits me to the tee.
Typical traits of an Endomorph:
- Soft and round body
- Gains muscle and fat very easily
- Is generally short
- “Stocky” build
- Round physique
- Finds it hard to lose fat
- Slow metabolism
- Muscles not so well defined
I’ve created a meal plan for optimal results. It’s recommended that I focus on shedding the extra pounds until I reached my normal healthy body weight. Of course since I am also transitioning to a vegan diet, my meal plan is completely plant based. The first two weeks focus on loosing the water weight due to high sodium and carbohydrate intake. So the meal plan reflects a reduced amount of simple carbs and complex carbs added where necessary. I’ll go into more details about this on my next post.
Another friend recommended a website called Couckto5k. Did I mention that being connected to the right people is essential? Anyways, I have added this training plan to my calendar. You can find my personalized plan here. If you’re also an endomorph and want to follow it yourself then add it to your Google calendar’s list.
That’s all for now, I’ll post details about my vegan nutrition plan in a couple of days.
Everyone Poops–a children’s book that most adults should read due to their uncanny fear of a necessary natural process.
Scientifically speaking: There are several characteristics of living things, such as, growth, reproduction, excretion (elimination of waste), etc.
Before a hospital organization discharges patients, they wait for them to pass stool. The patient is often kept in hospital care until this is achieved.
Alright now all these statements should have prepared you for the matter of discussion…colon cleansing.
Okay let’s be honest people, our bowels must move in-order for us to maintain a good state of health. If you think about it then you will realize that most people whose pipes are clogged are usually grumpy and feel hot. This is due to the extreme discomfort of being unable to pass stool which contains a high portion of indigestible fiber and sulfur-rich bacteria. When you have reached this point then here are some things you can do to take those browns to the Superbowl (fyi series of bad poo puns to follow lol):
- Drink an adequate amount of water- H2O intake requirements fluctuate for each person for various reason. Check out this link to determine what works best for you: Drink Water!
- Eat prunes- tasting so much better than prune juice, actual dried prunes have a natural sweetness to them. They also have antioxidants, fiber, and Vitamin K. Eat Prunes!
- Add flax seed to food- I prefer cold milled flax seed because it’s versatile. I can add it to a morning shake or oatmeal. For quick fiber boost. Use cautiously and drink plenty of water.
- Herbal teas with ginger, peppermint, dandelion, chamomile, and cinnamon usually help soothe my tummy when it feels uneasy. This is hard to recommend to others with complicated health issues since these natural ingredients interfere with pharmaceutical drugs. Do your research to find what works best for you.
Those are all the methods I can recall that I use to maintain a regular system. The point I’m trying to emphasize is that under normal circumstances people shouldn’t have to result to highly processed substances or bizzaire methods to cleanse their bowels. It’s a completely natural and normal process. Prevention is key–so eating clean will keep you on the right track. So go ahead have your morning glory and tell your evening story!
